Health and safety law places duties on organisations and
employers. It is recognised that health and safety risk management
requires strong leadership as well as workforce
engagement.
Protecting the health and safety of employees or members of the
public who may be affected by your activities is an
essential part of risk management and must be led by
the board.
We can help your organisation find the best ways to lead and
promote health and safety, and therefore meet its legal
obligations.
- Strong and active leadership from the top:
- visible, active commitment from the board;
- establishing effective 'downward' communication systems and
management structures;
- integration of good health and safety management with business
decisions.
HSE's leadership excellence programme
This programme draws on our regulatory experience and expertise
as occupational psychologists and human factors specialists to help
leaders at all levels understand and develop their health and
safety roles and responsibilities in line with current regulation
and the latest research. All of our courses are designed to have a
workshop focus to allow for discussion and reflection.

Training
HSE's one day NEBOSH accredited workshop is designed to equip
leaders with the knowledge and understanding of key health and
safety leadership responsibilities and values (as identified
through research), and understand how this enables them to work
towards achieving health and safety cultural excellence. It
provides leaders with the opportunity to share their own
experiences, reflect on their capabilities, consider ways in which
they can drive a leadership strategy forward in their own
organisation and learn from their peers and HSE experts.
This course, developed by us in partnership with NEBOSH, is
offered as an open one day face to face course, however, it can
also be delivered in company
Consultancy
HSE has extensive experience in helping organisations work
