Introduction
Under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, concerning the placing of
plant protection products on the market, applicants are required to
demonstrate acceptable risk from plant protection products to
operators, resident, bystanders and workers.
This workshop will be delivered over two morning sessions and
aims to take participants through non-dietary exposure risk
assessment for GB and NI plant protection product authorisations,
identifying the approaches that applicants need to follow using the
2022 European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) Exposure Guidance.
This guidance was implemented for NI assessments from 1 January
2023 and has been adopted for GB assessments from 1 January
2024.

will help attendees improve the quality of their submissions and
understand how these will be reviewed by the GB regulator.

- Introduction to the 2014 and 2022 EFSA Exposure Guidance
- Summary of significant changes to the exposure guidance
- Operator exposure risk assessment
- Resident and bystander exposure risk assessment
- Worker exposure risk assessment
- Introduction to the online EFSA OPEX Model
- Worked examples of operator, bystander, resident and worker
exposure assessments
- Recommendations for designing, conducting and assessing higher
tier field studies

Who should attend?
Technical and regulatory staff involved in the production and
submission of non-dietary human health risk assessments and
associated data to HSE.
Live Online Course Information
All you will need is an internet-connected computer, laptop, or
tablet, plus a webcam and microphone. We do not recommend using a
smartphone. Before you book, please check that you meet the
